Day of the dead…

So many people in my circle have lost parents this year. It’s hard. There is not one day I don’t think of my dad. Yesterday a song on my playlist made me cry out of no where…. and I thought of him and the day of his funeral. All I can say to all those suffering is this… it does get easier eventually …not picking up the phone to call them or invite them over. You will finally stop having that as your first thought. However, you will always think of them. In the beginning you only think of how much you miss them… later you will still miss them but think more about the awesome times. The laughs, the adventures, the peace…. The sad comes in waves and I have learned to ride them. Feel happy when I think of him but allow myself to miss him too.

A picture is worth a thousand words and since I’m not an author - I choose photos. I love to freeze time. I love to look back and remember everything leading up to the photo and what happened after…

I ask this of you all…in honor of the day of the dead. Take a photo today, a core memory that you want to remember. Some people hate taking photos… I get it but the ones around you will want those flashbacks frozen in time. So please just smile and ride the wave.

Feliz Día de los Muertos
